New DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran have yet to really offer any public reveal of their much talked about multi-year plan for the future of the DC screen universe.

All we really know is that a young Superman film, penned by Gunn, will be one of the projects. Beyond that it’s not clear until the pair properly unveil their plans, supposedly sometime later this month.

Now it appears they have shown at least some of their plans to not just people in the studio, but others who are connected to the DC screen universe such as “Aquaman” actor Jason Momoa.

In an Instagram story posting, Momoa revealed he had just attended a meeting at Warner Bros. Discovery where he is visibly excited and shares that he received some very good news. This would suggest he is a part of the pair’s plans for the future of DC. Along with a loud bellow of joy, he says:

“I got some really good news. Great news with Warner Bros. Amazing. Wish I could tell you, but here it is. Peter [Safran], I love you. James [Gunn], I love you. David [Zaslvav]… To the future.”

In the wake of that, Variety spoke with him and asked him about how the meeting went. He seems to hint at… something:

“[‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’] is going to be coming out this December and then, uh… Ya know, I’ll always be Aquaman. The rumors are… I’ll always be Aquaman, ain’t anyone coming in there and taking s—, and then, there may be some other characters too. I can play other things, too. I can be funny and savage and charming once in a while.”

Meanwhile, Gunn himself tells Empire Magazine that cast members of Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise “are like my family” and says “I know I will work again with all those people individually again. Probably at my other job” – referring to his new DC Studios role.

Until an announcement is made about DC Studios, we won’t know much about not only the new DC films under the Safran-Gunn regime, but what will happen with the already shot four DC films hitting this year.

Gunn himself has previously said the DC Universe is undergoing a “broad but not blanket reset”, suggesting some franchises will remain in the continuity and receive more sequels. Momoa himself, even if he doesn’t return as Aquaman, has also been rumored to play alien bounty hunter Lobo.
