We’ve all heard about the multiple delays to the production of the seventh “Mission: Impossible” film, and now the economic toll of those seven official delays have been revealed.

A new report from Variety indicates the pandemic has taken the already expensive film and turned it into not just the most expensive of the ‘Mission’ films but one of the most expensive films of all time.

The sixth film “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” came in at around $190 million in production costs, but the new entry is said to be coming in at a final production cost upwards of $290 million.

The report indicates that seventh and eighth films, which were supposed to shoot concurrently but are now being shot back-to-back, are expected to serve as the last adventures of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt character. The seventh film also reportedly ends on a bit of a cliffhanger.

Because of this, star and producer Tom Cruise may have been the one behind the delay of the seventh film by ten months to mid-2023 because he supposedly wants the eighth film to have finished filming before the seventh film opens so there isn’t an extended break between releases.

For now, “Mission: Impossible 7” is scheduled to arrive on July 14th 2023.
