Mirren Joins Gillian Anderson In “White Bird”

Oscar-winner Helen Mirren has signed on to co-star alongside “The X-Files” and “The Fall” star Gillian Anderson in “White Bird: A Wonder Story” for Lionsgate.

Ariella Glaser and Orlando Schwerdt have also been cast in lead roles while Bryce Gheisar is set to reprise his role as Julian from the 2017 film “Wonder”.

Mark Bomback penned the script, based on R.J. Palacio’s book, which follows Julian as he is visited by his Grandmere (Mirren) from Paris. She tells her remarkable story of compassion and courage whilst living in Nazi-occupied France.

As a young Jewish girl (Glaser), she was hidden away by a boy (Schwerdt) and his family in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. Anderson will play the family matriarch who must make unimaginable choices.

Filming has commenced in Eastern Europe with Marc Forster (“World War Z,” “Quantum of Solace”) directing. David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing.
