Oscar winners Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Al Pacino, and Oscar nominee Danny DeVito are all set to star in the noir tale “Sniff” directed by Mirren’s husband – Oscar winner Taylor Hackford (“Ray,” “Devil’s Advocate”).

In the context of the film, S.N.I.F.F. stands for Senior Nursing Institute & Family Foundation. Tom Grey pens the film in which two residents die under suspicious circumstances in a high-end luxury retirement community.

Retired detective Joe Mulwray (Freeman) is pulled back into the action by his former partner William Keys (DeVito), and they uncover a hidden underworld of sex, drugs and murder in the wealthy community controlled by kingpin Harvey Stride (Pacino), and his femme fatale enforcer The Spider (Mirren).

Hackford’s ambition is to give noir a jumpstart in the way “Knives Out” did to the whodunit. Hackford, Adam Goodman and Matt Skiena will produce with the film to be unveiled for sales as part of the Toronto International Film Festival market.

Shooting aims to begin by the end of the first quarter of 2022 with the hope of releasing at the end of next year.
