Helen Mirren and Manish Dayal have joined the culinary drama “The Hundred-Foot Journey” at DreamWorks Studios.
An adaptation of the Richard C. Morais novel, the story follows the rivalry between a three-Michelin-star restaurant in France, and the Indian restaurant that resides just a hundred feet away.
The French restaurant is run by eccentric chef Madame Mallory (Mirren), who reluctantly forms a mentoring bond with a young Indian boy whose family owns the rival restaurant.
Lasse Hallstrom (“Salmon Fishing in the Yeme n”) helms the film from a script by Steve Knight (“Eastern Promises”). Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake are producing.
Shooting begins September in France and India ahead of an August 2014 release.
