“Miracle Workers,” “In Treatment” Get Tax Credits

The California Film Commission announced that both the planned revival of HBO’s “In Treatment” and a third season of the Daniel Radcliffe-led anthology comedy “Miracle Workers” are moving after having been accepted into the state’s production tax credit program.

The shows were previously shot in both New York and the Czech Republic, but now are moving to the U.S. west coast where they must begin filming within the next six months in order to get a $5 million tax credit which can be applied once production has been completed.

They join around eighteen other shows that have relocated to California during the past five years due to the tax credit program with others including “Veep,” “Ballers,” “You,” “Good Girls” and “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels”.

Numerous other existing shows have been selected for the next round of credits as well including “American Horror Story,” “Animal Kingdom,” “Euphoria,” “Lucifer,” “The Orville,” “Perry Mason,” “Snowfall,” “Star Trek Picard,” “SWAT,” “This Is Us,” “Westworld” and Adam McKay’s untitled Lakers Showtime-era project.

The new follows on from a late June announcement that numerous films like Cate Blanchett’s untitled Lucille Ball biopic and Sylvester Stallone’s “Little America” were among dozens of films selected for tax credit allocations.
