Mike Flanagan’s “Carrie” Sets Its Major Cast

Netflix

Amazon Prime Video and filmmaker Mike Flanagan’s TV series adaptation of the early Stephen King novel “Carrie” has reportedly locked down its lead cast.

Summer Howell (“Curse of Chucky”) is confirmed for the title role of Carrie White following reports of her being in talks in April. Matthew Lillard (“Five Nights at Freddy’s”) is also confirmed for the role of Principal Grayle.

Newly announced today to be joining them is Flanagan regular Samantha Sloyan (pictured) whose work as fire & brimstone yelling antagonist Bev Keane in Flanagan’s “Midnight Mass” event series will come in handy for the role of Carrie’s abusive mother Margaret White.

Also onboard are:
Alison Thornton (“Girlfriend’s Guide to Divorce”) as Chris Hargensen
Thalia Dudek (“The Running Man”) as Emaline
Siena Agudong (“Sidelined: The QB and Me”) as Sue Snell
Amber Midthunder (“Prey”) as Miss Desjardin
Josie Totah (“The Buccaneers”) as Tina
Arthur Conti (“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”) as Billy
Joel Oulette (“Sullivan’s Crossing”) as Tommy

Dubbed a “bold and timely reimagining of the story,” the series sees Carrie having spent her life in seclusion with her domineering mother. After her father’s sudden and untimely death, Carrie finds herself contending with the alien landscape of public high school.

At the same time a bullying scandal shatters her community, and she must deal with the emergence of her mysterious telekinetic powers. Flanagan will write, executive produce and serve as showrunner while Trevor Macy is serving as an executive producer.

The project marks the first TV series under Flanagan’s deal at Amazon following his highly successful run at Netflix which included “The Haunting of Hill House,” “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” “Midnight Mass,” “The Midnight Club” and “The Fall of the House of Usher”.
