After months of speculation, the players in the next generation of console wars have begun to answer the two most important questions which both Microsoft and Sony have long been avoiding – release date and price.
Microsoft has opted to show its hand first, announcing that the Xbox Series X will be released for a retail price of $499 U.S. dollars on November 10th. The same date will also see the less powerful Xbox Series S arrive for $299.
Pre-orders for the Microsoft console start September 22nd. Sony hasn’t yet announced its date or price, but it’s widely rumored to cost $399 for the digital only and $499 for the disc drive edition with a launch on November 17th. With Xbox having shown its hand, expect Sony to firm up its date and price shortly.
