Michelle Yeoh Joins “Wicked” Musical Cast

Having just been named Icon of the Year by TIME Magazine, actress Michelle Yeoh is keeping busy and has joined the star-studded cast of Jon M. Chu’s two-part “Wicked” film adaptation.

Yeoh will play Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Crage Hall at Shiz University in “The Wizard of Oz” prequel tale which tells how Elphaba turned into the Wicked Witch of the West and how Glinda became the Good Witch.

The cast includes Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, and Jeff Goldblum remains in talks to play The Wizard. Universal Pictures will release the films at Christmas in 2024 and 2025.

The actress has previously confirmed that following her three-season stint on “Star Trek: Discovery,” she’s still keen to return to the role of Terran Emperor Georgiou for the proposed “Section 31” spin-off which remains in development.
