Michelle Yeoh Filming Marvel’s “Shang-Chi”?

Actress Michelle Yeoh appears to be confirmed for Marvel Studios “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” going by social media postings and talk here in Sydney.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all arrivals into Australia have to spend two weeks in hotel quarantine where they’re regularly tested before being allowed to enter the country.

Two major international productions are either underway or gearing up to film at present – “Shang-Chi” and Hulu’s event series “Nine Perfect Strangers”. ‘Strangers’ has been very transparent about its casting with actors like Luke Evans already in the country and posting from quarantine.

“Shang-Chi” on the other hand has kept its secrets for the most part. Leading man Simu Liu has effectively become an honoree Aussie having stayed in Sydney throughout the pandemic and in the last few days has been posting photos from his set trailer.

Others have begun arriving. Florian Munteanu, whom Dark Horizons first reported on joining the cast, is already back, arriving earlier this month and promising to “finish what we started”. Recently Yeoh, who was first linked back in January, has been posting photos from her hotel quarantine in Sydney and was just released yesterday.

What Yeoh’s role in the film will be is also unclear, Marvel has yet to confirm her involvement, but she joins a cast that also includes Tony Leung and Awkwafina. The project at present remains on track for a May 7th 2021 release.

Yeoh also has a role in the upcoming “Avatar” sequels which have been filming in New Zealand.
