Michelle Rodriguez Confirms “F9” In Space

For a while now the long-running joke of the “Fast and Furious” franchise is that it will involve going into space at one point. After all the film series has long since left the laws of physics behind.

Ludacris, who has starred in six of the films including the upcoming ninth installment, hinted back in July to SiriusXM’s Jess Cagle and Julia Cunningham that the new film “F9: The Fast Saga” will go into space as rumored. This week, his co-star Michelle Rodriguez confirmed it whilst doing an interview for the same show:

“Oh, no way. How did you guys find that out? See what happens? People start talking behind the scenes, man. When a movie doesn’t come out and forget about it, things get out. Nobody was supposed to know that.”

They subsequently explained Ludacris had suggested it to them. The hosts then asked whether Rodriguez’s character gets to head into space:

“Oh, well, no, I’m not, I’m not, I’m not lucky enough to hit space, but we did get a female writer and showed a lot of love, I think, on this one. Thanks to Justin Lin, we were able to, to find a little bit more attention and love for the girls in the movie. And so I’m really hopeful that shows through in the final product.”

“F9: The Fast Saga” was originally slated to open earlier this Summer but was subsequently delayed a full year due to the coronavirus pandemic. It now opens April next year.
