“Metal Gear Solid” Collection Gets Disclaimer

Konami

In October comes “Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1,” a compilation collection that includes the MSX2 versions of first two “Metal Gear” games, the first three “Metal Gear Solid” games, and the NES versions of “Metal Gear” and “Snake’s Revenge”.

Now, Games Radar is reporting that the title will incorporate a disclaimer at the start which warns players that some of the content may not be considered appropriate in the present day.

Not unlike the introductory disclaimer added to “Gone with the Wind” stream on Max, the message informs players that each game’s content remains unchanged but adds that some scenes impact differently now than they did back at release.

It reportedly reads that the game contains: “Expressions and themes which may be considered outdated. However, these elements have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator’s original vision. Player discretion is advised.”

Franchise mastermind Hideo Kojima’s name isn’t mentioned, but that “creator’s original vision” does seem to refer to him. What scenes the disclaimer refers to also isn’t clear, but the game’s listing on stream warns of mature content.

The collection also adds digital graphic novels, screenplay books, digital soundtrack and strategy guides. “Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 1” will be released on October 24th for Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC via Steam and yesterday confirmed on Twitter that a PS4 version is coming as well.
