Hulu’s “Normal People” breakout star Paul Mescal has landed a major role in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut “The Lost Daughter”.
The story follows an elegant college professor (Olivia Colman) on a seaside summer vacation who becomes consumed by Nina (Dakota Johnson) and her young daughter as she watches them on the beach, only to be overwhelmed by fearful memories of early motherhood.
Forced to consider the unconventional choices she made as a young mother and the consequences they had for her family, she begins to unravel. Jessie Buckley and Peter Sarsgaard also star while Gyllenhaal, Charlie Dorfman, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman-Keren will produce.
