Mendes Keen For A Female-Directed 007 Film

Bond Team Finally Talk No Time Ending

There are various consistencies with the James Bond films, some of which have been broken in recent times.

One is that of American director Cary Fukunaga who, with “No Time to Die,” became the first non-British director to take the helm of a Bond movie.

One thing that hasn’t changed is the gender of directors, with all the Bond films having been helmed by men. Recently though, “Skyfall” and “Spectre” director Sam Mendes says he thinks it’s time for a woman to have a go at directing the next 007. He tells Deadline:

“I think that the actor playing Bond is going to evolve, the director has to evolve. I think it would be wonderful to see a woman directing Bond. I think it would be wonderful.”

Producer Barbara Broccoli has been the woman behind the Bond franchise for many years and still retains tight control of that franchise.

There’s plenty of speculation as to the future direction of the franchise in the wake of Daniel Craig’s departure from the series. No announcements about any further casting or plans for what comes next have yet been made though.
