Filmmaker Gerard McMurray (“Burning Sands,” “The First Purge”) will pen and direct an adaptation of the comic “Black” which hails from Studio 8 and Warner Bros. Pictures.

Dubbed “X-Men” meets “The Wire,” the original comic is set in a United States where only African-Americans possess superpowers. The discovery is made when a Brooklyn teen named Kareem Jenkins is racially profiled and shot by police.

He lives to tell the tale and connects with others who share similar powers and uncovers a wide conspiracy to keep the knowledge of such superpowers from the world – especially from the black community.

Jeff Robinov, John Graham and Matteo Pizzolo will produce.
