Matthew McConaughey will lead the crime thriller feature”The Rivals of Amziah King,” which will be written and directed by “The Vast of Night” filmmaker Andrew Patterson for Black Bear Pictures.
The crime thriller is said to be “deeply atmospheric and character-focused” and tells a story set within a remote region of Oklahoma.
Further plot details are under wraps for now. McConaughey will play the titular role in the project, which will be sold at Cannes. Producer David Heyman says:
“When I first watched ‘The Vast of Night,’ it was clear to me that Andrew Patterson was a remarkable talent with a singular vision. I am incredibly excited to be working with Andrew and to support him and Matthew as they bring Amziah to life and make what I believe will be an extraordinary film.”
Patterson, Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, Will Greenfield, Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler all produce.
Oscar winner McConaughey recently appeared in the animated feature “Sing 2” for Universal Pictures, the animated “Agent Elvis” series for Sony and Netflix, and is in negotiations to star in the untitled “Yellowstone” sequel.
