Holt McCallany, Aunjanue Ellis and Killian Scott have scored series regular roles in Peter Moffat’s courtroom drama series “61st Street” at AMC.
The story follows Moses Johnson (Tosin Cole), a promising black high school athlete swept up into the infamously corrupt Chicago criminal justice system.
As a supposed gang member, taken by the police, he finds himself in the eye of the storm as cops and prosecutors seek revenge for the death of an officer during a drug bust gone wrong.
McCallany will play Lieutenant Tardelli, a Chicago police lieutenant running a dirty squad who believes in force. Ellis will portray Martha Roberts, a candidate for alderman on the South Side and a former stay-at-home mom to an autistic son,
Scott will play Rocco Andretti, a legacy Chicago police officer forced to question his commitment to the department while examining his own morality. Courtney B. Vance and Andrene Ward-Hammond also star.
The series has been ordered as a two-season TV event with eight episodes per season. Filming begins next month in Chicago for a 2022 premiere.
