Mayday
Magnolia Pictures has acquired worldwide rights to Karen Cinorr’s debut film “Mayday”. The action fantasy, about a female army luring men to their deaths with radio signals, debuted at Sundance and stars Grace Van Patten, Mia Goth and Juliette Lewis. The plan is for a Fall release.

Bergman Island
IFC Films has acquired U.S. rights to Mia Hansen-Love’s “Bergman Island” ahead of the film’s world premiere in competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

The story follows an American filmmaking couple (Vicky Krieps, Tim Roth), retreating to the mythical island of Faro (home of the late Ingmar Bergman) for the summer in search of inspiration. Lines between reality and fiction then begin to blur, and tear the couple further apart.

Cicada
Strand Releasing has acquired all North American rights to Matthew Fifer’s Brooklyn-set debut feature “Cicada” with plans to release it this Fall.

Fifer stars as a young bisexual man who, after a string of unsuccessful and awkward encounters, meets Sam (Sheldon Brown), a man of color struggling with deep wounds of his own.

As the summer progresses and their intimacy grows, their pasts begin to crawl to the surface. Cobie Smulders, Michael Potts, Scott Adsit and Bowen Yang co-star.

Secret Headquarters
Paramount Pictures has set an August 12th 2022 release date for the Owen Wilson-led and Jerry Bruckheimer-produced “Secret Headquarters”. The story follows a teenager who discovers a secret headquarters under his home that seems to belong to a superhero. He shares it with his friends, and they start to believe that his estranged father might have a secret double life.

Naked Singularity
Screen Media has scored all North American rights to heist thriller “Naked Singularity” starring John Boyega and Olivia Cooke. Boyega plays a promising young NYC public defender whose idealism is beginning to crack under the daily injustices of the system.

“IT” co-writer Chase Palmer makes his feature directing debut on the film which also stars Bill Skarsgard, Ed Skrein, Linda Lavin and Tim Blake Nelson. Palmer and David Matthews adapted the script and Screen plans to release the film theatrically in August.

Runt
1091 Pictures has acquired North American distribution rights to the late Cameron Boyce’s last film “Runt” with plans for a day and date release in theaters and on VOD this Fall.

The story follows a group of neglected and misguided high-school seniors who are pulled into a downward cycle of violence when the adults in their lives fail them. Boyce portrays Cal, a high-school teenager, who after a troubling incident takes a stand, resulting in devastating consequences.

Running Against The Wind
Samuel Goldwyn Films has acquired North American rights to Jan Philipp Weyl’s debut feature, the Ethiopian thriller “Running Against the Wind,” which will hit VOD on July 9th.

The story centers on two 12-year-old boys who grow up together in a remote village – until a single photograph leads them in different directions, changing their lives forever as one becomes a successful runner, the other a photographer.
