“The Batman” director Matt Reeves and “Dunkirk” star Fionn Whitehead are teaming for the new Quibi series going by the working title of “Clickbait”.
The short-form content platform has handed out a series order for the project which tells the true story of a group of Macedonian teenagers who made a fortune creating fake news in the run-up to the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.
The series will explore the profound effect their work had on the election and on their own lives. Whitehead plays Niko, one of the Macedonian teenage ringleaders who is desperate to escape his circumstances and discovers that publishing fake news could be his golden ticket.
Reeves is on board to executive produce alongside Ann Ruark (“Boy Erased”), Greg Silverman and Paul Shapiro. Mark Molloy helms the project which was penned by Adam Sorin.
