“Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” director Destin Daniel Cretton appears to have confirmed that production on Marvel Studios’ “Wonder Man” series has begun.
Cretton took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes photo, featuring himself in front of the famous Hollywood sign in Los Angeles and revealed that Brett Pawlak is serving as cinematographer on the production.
Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II leads the series and is joined by Oscar winner Ben Kingsley reprising his role from “Shang-Chi” and “Iron Man 3” of washed-up British actor Trevor Slattery.
First introduced in 1964, Wonder Man is Simon Williams – a gifted engineer who gains superhuman abilities, including enhanced strength, speed, stamina, durability, reflexes, and agility.
Also starring is Demetrius Grosse as Simon’s brother Eric Williams who is also the villain Grim Reaper who uses a scythe with coma-inducting powers. Recently it was reported Ed Harris is also on board in the role of Neal Saroyan – a talent agent for Simon who goes above and beyond.
Andrew Guest (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” “Community”) is serving as the head writer and Cretton is executive producing and directing some episodes. “The Photograph” filmmaker Stella Meghie will also be directing multiple episodes.
