Filmmaker James Gunn has confirmed this afternoon that tickets for his third and final “Guardians of the Galaxy” film at Marvel Studios are set to go on sale on Monday. Marvel.com has subsequently confirmed it.
Returning to the screens six years after the second film and nine years after the first, the last adventure of the Guardians sees Peter Quill still reeling from the loss of Gamora. He must rally the Guardians on a mission to defend the universe.
The group must protect one of their own when elements from Rocket Raccoon’s past resurface – an evil scientist type known as the High Evolutionary who has set his sights on the ‘Guardians’ and his old creation.
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Sean Gunn all return, along with Elizabeth Debicki, Sylvester Stallone and Maria Bakalova. Will Poulter joins them as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.
Gunn has moved over to DC Studios and the various ‘Guardians’ actors have indicated they’re ready to move on – making this a pretty definitive end. If a fourth ‘Guardians’ were to happen, it will likely revolve around a whole new group of characters.
The film will be released in cinemas everywhere on May 5th. Check out a trailer for the pre-sales ticket option below, a clip that includes some brief new footage.
