“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” Scores Rave Reviews

Insomniac Games

The results are in and with 120 reviews counted, Insomniac Games’ “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” has pulled in a stellar 91/100 on Metacritic.

That puts it ahead of its two predecessors with the first “Spider-Man scoring an 87/100 whilst the spin-off “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” landed an 85/100.

Remarkably, as of the time of writing, not a single review is listed as ‘negative’ or ‘mixed’ with the lowest visible score for an individual review being an 80/100.

In terms of 2023, that score puts it in the upper echelon of new titles for the year behind only “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” (97), “Baldur’s Gate 3” (96), the “Resident Evil 4” remake (93), “Cocoon” (92),” and “Street Fighter 6” (92).

It’s on par with “Diablo IV” (91) and “Sea of Stars” (91), and ahead of “Dave the Diver” (90), the “Dead Space” remake (89), “Hi-Fi Rush” (89), “Pikmin 4” (87) and “Starfield” (86).

Much like with “God of War Ragnarok” last year, what few complaints there are seem to be either about storytelling choice or it being a tad too similar to its predecessor.

In the new game, Peter’s best friend Harry Osborne returns to his life and Miles looks to build his future beyond high school. The relationship between our heroes is tested and strained as the Symbiote appears to threaten them, the city, and the ones they love.

“Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” comes exclusively to the PS5 this Friday.
