Marvel’s “Shang-Chi” Suspends Shoot

Marvel Studios has temporarily shut down the first-unit production on “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” as director Destin Daniel Cretton has self-isolated to undergo testing for COVID-19.

At present, the overall production and second unit filming will continue in Sydney, Australia with the move being seen as Cretton being extra cautious as he has a newborn baby to be concerned about. As a result, the shoot will await the test results in the next few days and an update is expected by Tuesday.

The news comes as the first photos from the set have been released by a Channel 7 News report posted on Reddit showcasing a helicopter action sequence from the feature which stars Simu Lu, Awkwafina, Tony Leung and Florian Munteanu.

Australia has had 156 confirmed cases of the coronavirus with 3 recorded deaths so far, all elderly. Earlier this week pre-production on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic was halted after star Tom Hanks tested positive for COVID-19.
