Marvel Studios’ “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” held its world premiere last night, several weeks ahead of its release on September 3rd.

The title faces an uphill battle, arriving exclusively in cinemas at a time when the Delta variant of COVID-19 is spreading across the globe, lockdowns and vaccine mandates are coming into effect in certain locations, and fear of sitting in indoor public spaces is on the rise.

All in all a lacklustre Summer box-office season is headed toward what is looking to be a potentially tougher and worse Fall, and the film has to deal with being a new character major audiences aren’t as familiar with.

That said, the movie is still going to give it a good try with tickets for the film now on sale and both a new TV spot and a clip being released. These come in the wake of social media reaction post-premiere from attendees which paints it with praise for its fight choreography, visuals, chemistry and focus on personal family elements along with its offering of a new twist on the MCU formula.

Simu Liu, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, Benedict Wong, Yuen Wah, Ronny Chieng, Zach Cherry, and Dallas Liu star in the Destin Daniel Cretton-directed film which is reportedly set in the present-day MCU (by the franchise’s count the year 2023).
