Two rising actresses have scored mysterious key roles in two upcoming film projects based on Marvel properties.

First up, “The Suicide Squad” star Daniela Melchior is re-teaming with that film’s director James Gunn on the third “Guardians of the Galaxy” feature which wrapped filming last month.

Melchior’s role is unknown but it’s confirmed she will not be playing Moondragon as had been previously speculated. Nor is she the ‘unannounced actor’ that Gunn has been teasing.

Gunn himself confirmed the casting on Twitter saying: “I can confirm (and confirm she’s wonderful in the role)… one of my favorite people & actors around, & I hope this is just the second of many projects we’ll work on together.”

Melchior will soon be seen in the currently shooting “Fast X” and the actress recently shared a photo of herself on Instagram during downtime on the set.

Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Isabela Merced (“Sweet Girl,” “Father of the Bride”) has scored a role in the Marvel Comics-inspired “Madame Web” movie at Sony Pictures. Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney and Celeste O’Connor co-star. S.J. Clarkson directs the film which is targeting a July 2023 release.
