Now we are post-writer’s strike, Marvel Studios is reportedly ready to start setting writer meetings this Fall to hear pitches for its anticipated first “X-Men” movie.
Deadline says there is no rush to fill the job since the film hasn’t set a date yet, and the decision to hire a writer likely won’t be made until sometime in early 2024.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has reportedly been overseeing the development process, but the studio hasn’t been really made any forward movement on it as too many other projects have been further along in development.
Fans have been keen for a new MCU-set “X-Men” film since Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2019. Since then however all they’ve had a tiny hints and news of the upcoming animated series “X-Men ’97” to debut in early 2024 on the Disney+ service.
The closest we’ll get to see the property in the MCU in the near future is with “Deadpool 3” next year.
Open writing assignments are tipped to see a jump in the coming weeks even as other areas, like the spec market, are expected to remain slow or on hold until the SAG-AFTRA strike is worked out.
