Marvel Planning “Alien” & “Predator” Comics

Marvel has acquired the comic publishing rights to both “Alien” and “Predator,” snatching the famed brands up from their long-established comic home at Dark Horse reports IGN.

The deal reportedly is laying the groundwork for a new line of comic books featuring the extra-terrestrial characters set in that cinematic universe. Dark Horse held the publishing licenses for comics based on both film franchises for decades, going all the way back to 1988 and 1989.

The current plan is to “expand on the characters and settings of the various Alien and Predator movies”. Marvel Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski adds in a statement: “As our release schedule continues to return, we can’t wait to share more in the coming months.”

Batman artist David Finch created two images celebrating the new acquisition, both of which can be found in full at IGN.
