Marvel Delays “Black Widow” Release

It was inevitable.

With cinemas closing for at least a few weeks to potentially three months around the globe, Marvel and Disney’s “Black Widow” – the last tentpole on the release schedule before the end of May – has been delayed with no new release date yet set.

The Scarlett Johansson-led Marvel superhero adventure was to open May 1st and Disney had held off on postponing it in the hopes it wouldn’t have to delay another movie, especially a guaranteed theatrical performer like a Marvel film which Disney most assuredly doesn’t want to push direct to streaming.

However with the usual Marvel budget, the film needs to do well with international crowds in order to turn a profit. With the U.S. and other countries experiencing mass closures though, it was only a matter of time.
