Marvel & DC Crossover Has Been ‘Discussed’

Warner Bros. Pictures, Marvel

Marvel vs. DC. It has been one of the fun ongoing debates along with PC vs. Mac, Xbox vs. PlayStation, Star Wars vs. Star Trek and so on. But could it ever actually happen on screen in live-action?

New DC Studios chief James Gunn seems to think the possibility is there. Gunn is currently doing press rounds in support of “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” his final directorial effort for Marvel ahead of his co-running of DC’s upcoming slate (alongside Peter Safran), including his first gig writing and directing “Superman: Legacy” due out in 2025.

He marks one of the few able to straddle both worlds without issue and is now in a position of power to do something about it. He says the chances of a potential crossover with Marvel are now greater.

He tells Empire Magazine that the possibility is now greater, and there have been some early discussions even if its mostly just lighthearted talk for the moment:

“I’m certain that’s more likely now that I’m in charge [at DC]. Who knows? That’s many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we’re doing [at DC] first. I would be lying to say that we haven’t discussed it. But all discussions have been very, very light and fun.”

Gunn has also openly talked about Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige supporting his transition to lead DC Studios where Gunn helped set up the new DC universe that will be told across movies, television shows and video games.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” is set to open in theaters on May 5th.
