After years of talk about the possibility, the news came in May that former “Jessica Jones” star Krysten Ritter would reprise that eponymous role – albeit this time in the MCU and more specifically the second season of “Daredevil: Born Again”.
Since then the actress has been photographed filming scenes for the new season alongside her “Defenders” co-star Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in what is expected to be only a supporting role.
In interviews, Ritter has expressed her happiness about returning to the role and many want to see it go further. Well, a new report indicates it’s happening but Marvel still hasn’t decided quite how as yet.
Scooper DanielRPK reports that “Marvel is discussing doing Jessica Jones as either a [TV] show or a special of her own”. Essentially they’re determining whether there’s enough for a full series or if they’ll do what they’re doing with “The Punisher” and give her a standalone Special Presentation.
The original Netflix series was widely lauded for its first season, but the subsequent two seasons weren’t so well received even as people still liked the character and Ritter’s performance (Carrie-Anne Moss’ Jeri Hogarth also scored good notices).
The same scooper also indicated a while back that Marvel Television plans to focus on street-level, grounded stories similar to Netflix – saving the big events for films going forward.
