While Marvel’s animation panel at Comic-Con offered nothing much in the way of trailers for its upcoming shows and new seasons, it did reveal new details for what’s in store.
First up, a second season of “What If…?” will arrive early in 2023 with a third season currently in development. Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) will return, there will be a medieval episode, a racing episode with Valkyrie and Iron Man on Sakaar, and an episode where Odin fights characters from “Shang-Chi”.
“X-Men ’97” will arrive in Fall 2023 and picks up where the 1990s X-Men series left off. The original “X-Men” heroes will be included and will be joined by new characters like Sunspot, Cable, Bishop, and Nightcrawler while Magneto will lead the team. In addition, the show has already scored a second season renewal.
“Spider-Man: Freshman Year” is also getting a second season (titled “Spider-Man: Sophomore Year”) with the show not being MCU canon – allowing it to go in its own direction. Doctor Octopus, The Rhino, Scorpion, Speed Demon, and Tarantula are confirmed villains whilst Charlie Cox will reprise the Daredevil in a voice capacity for the series which will premiere in 2024.
Also coming in 2024 is “Marvel Zombies,” a TV-MA rated direct spin-off from the episodes introduced in “What If…?”. Yelena, Kate Bishop, Red Guardian, Jimmy Woo, Ms. Marvel and several “Shang-Chi” characters will appear.
Finally, Marvel has released a first look clip for ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur,” the animated series based on the best-selling comic book series. Not a part of the MCU, the serie follows a thirteen-year-old super-genius who, with the help of a dinosaur, takes down criminals and supervillains in NYC. Check out the clip below ahead of the show’s 2023 premiere.
