Mark Wahlberg To Lead Apple’s “Headhunters”

Magnolia Pictures

Mark Wahlberg is reportedly attached to star in and produce an English-language new film adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s novel “Headhunters” at Apple Studios.

Bill Dubuque (“The Accountant,” “Ozark”) is writing the screenplay for the new take, which does not yet have a director attached.

The property was previously adapted by “The Imitation Game” director Morten Tyldum into the acclaimed 2011 Norwegian dark comedy/thriller film of the same name, starring Aksel Hennie and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

The story follows a corporate headhunter named Roger Brown who maintains the illusion of wealth and status despite his diminishing income, doing so by secretly stealing valuable works of art to fund his lifestyle.

When he meets a potential CEO candidate named Clas Greve who possesses a valuable lost painting, Brown plans a heist – but things go dangerously wrong and he becomes the one being hunted.

Wahlberg has set up the successful “The Family Plan” franchise at Apple with a sequel arriving in two weeks.
