Mark Ruffalo On Hulk’s “Spider-Man” Return

Marvel

Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo has finally discussed recent rumors regarding his Marvel character Bruce Banner/Hulk and his potential involvement in the currently shooting “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”.

Ruffalo last played the character in the final moments of 2022’s “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” where it was revealed he has a son named Skaar.

Now, duing an interview with ET, Ruffalo says he doesn’t actually know if the Hulk is part of “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” as he hasn’t read any scripts for the film yet:

“I don’t know. I’m still waiting to hear. I haven’t read a script yet….If it does happen, it would be incredible. I grew up with it, and it changed my life in the best ways. Each time it’s this new director, a new world. It’s so exciting and there’s nothing else like it. Maybe a TV show, but a TV show doesn’t change its whole world from one director to the next, and that’s what’s so exciting about it.”

Separately speaking with THR, Ruffalo says one person he’s very keen to work with is Jon Bernthal who will be bring his Frank Castle/The Punisher role to the big screen for the first time:

“If I’m doing that – which the rumors are that I am, once I get a script, I’ll know it’s real – but I love him and we have a common friend in Lena Dunham, believe it or not, who just adores him.. I can’t wait to work with him, he’s so funny and he’s such a great actor. He plays that character like nobody else. I’m really excited to meet him, I’ve never met him.”

Rumors about Hulk’s potential role have suggested the character gets a Savage Hulk transformation in the film – a transformation triggered by emotional distress.

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the film from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The movie is slated to open July 31st 2026.
