Marc Forster (“Christopher Robin,” “World War Z”) is set to direct “White Bird: A Wonder Story,” a film adaptation of R.J. Palacio’s graphic novel of the same name for Lionsgate and Mandeville Films.
The project is a creative companion from the universe of the 2017 hit “Wonder” with Mark Bomback penning the script.
The story is set in Nazi-occupied France during the Second World War and follows the grandmother of Julian, the boy who bullied Auggie Pullman in the original “Wonder” novel.
She tells her story of how a young Jewish girl’s life is turned upside down by the occupying Nazis and a boy she and her classmates once shunned becomes her savior and best friend.
The 2017 “Wonder” film grossed $305 million at the worldwide box office.
