Actress Emily Swallow is a familiar face to genre audiences. To “Supernatural” fans she’s Amara/The Darkness – God’s sister and the ‘big bad’ of the show’s eleventh season.
More recently she’s been the actress behind the helmet of ‘The Armorer’ on Disney+ shows “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett”, sharing most of her scenes with Pedro Pascal who recently starred in HBO’s “The Last of Us” series.
Swallow has her own connection to the latter franchise, playing the character of Emily in “The Last of Us Part II” game. The character is a devoted member of the Seraphites, an extremist religious cult, who encounters several characters in a gritty night lynching scene.
The first season of the HBO series saw multiple actors from the games make the jump to the screen including the actors who played Joel, Ellie and Tommy in different roles whilst Merle Dandridge reprised her Marlene role.
Would Swallow be up for reprising her role for the second season which is adapting some of the second game? Speaking with Slashfilm, Swallow makes it very clear she’s not only willing but eager to return to the franchise – be it the same role or something else:
“Oh my gosh. So many people keep asking me this. So I really hope that somebody will hear one of these interviews, read one of these interviews …because I would love to.
I wouldn’t mind playing a role that maybe got to stick around a little bit longer because what I did in the game … granted, it was a really fun little bit part, but I wouldn’t mind playing somebody else who maybe lives longer and gets to have a scene with Pedro [Pascal] since now we’re on a roll between ‘The Mentalist’ and [‘The Mandalorian’].”
The Emily character doesn’t share scenes with Joel in the game. Swallow and Pascal previously appeared together as FBI agents on the long-running CBS series “The Mentalist”.
“The Mandalorian” continues weekly right now on Disney+ whilst “The Last of Us” is available to stream on HBO Max and is coming to other digital platforms next month. A second season of “The Last of Us” aims to get in production before year’s end ahead of a late 2024/early 2025 airing.
