Nearly twenty years after they are starred together in “Man on Fire,” actors Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning look set to reunite for Antoine Fuqua’s third “The Equalizer” film at Sony Pictures.
The project continues 2014’s cinematic loose reimagining of the 1980s TV series of the same name, and its 2018 follow-up which marked Washington’s first-ever sequel.
In the films Washington plays Robert McCall, a former Marine who cuts a violent path through those doing injustice – Russian mobsters in the first, and his former squadmates turned mercenaries in the second.
Richard Wenk returns to pen the third outing which once again is being produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch and Washington. Plot specifics are under wraps.
Fanning has mostly recently been sticking to TV with her roles in TNT’s “The Alienist” and Showtime’s “The First Lady”.
“The Equalizer 3” will be released in cinemas on September 1st 2023.
