Madden Biopic Turned Into Mini-Series

EA

A planned biopic of NFL Hall of Fame Raiders head coach, famed broadcaster and sporting video game icon John Madden has been scrapped in favour of a limited series going by the title “All Madden”.

Filmmaker Gavin O’Connor (“Warrior,” “Miracle,” “The Accountant”) is set to direct from scripts by Alex Sohn (“Vegas”) with production companies Hidden Pictures, Lit Entertainment Group, Religion of Sports, and Tom Brady’s 199 Productions are all attached.

The series chronicles the life and career of the NFL icon and his rise from humble beginnings to leave a permanent mark on football as a coach, on broadcast football as one of its most famous commentators, on video games with a franchise built on his name even though he never played them, and on pop culture in general.

Behind the legendary and larger-than-life coaching career, Madden was deemed a simple man of high intelligence and an unwavering commitment to excellence. His career success came at a personal cost with the series expected to also explore that.

The filmmakers will find a broadcast partner once they’ve finished scripting the episodes and then they’ll begin a casting search to find their Madden.

Todd Lieberman, Adam Kolbrenner, Gotham Chopra, Ryan Stowell, and Tom Brady will executive produce in collaboration with the late Madden’s family, Sandy Montag and The Montag Group
