Mackie Talks His “Captain America” Wish

Marvel

Marvel’s “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” series saw Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson finally coming to accept his role as the new Captain America after Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed on the shield to him during “Avengers: Endgame”.

In two years, we’ll see Mackie get his own standalone feature with the new film “Captain America: New World Order” which will see Sam pushed to his absolute limits. Speaking with E! News recently, Mackie says there is one thing he truly wishes to do in the film – have a memorable fight scene.

Specifically he wants a scene that rivals Evans’ arguably most iconic screen fight to date as his Steve Rogers character – the elevator scene from “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” where he takes down ten agents single-handedly. Mackie says:

“I want a fight scene that rivals Chris Evans’ fight scene in the elevator. When he fought, like, ten dudes in the elevator. That was a badass scene. The first time I saw that, I was like, ‘That’s crazy.’ So I just want a fight scene that rivals that.”

Along with his wings to help him fly, enhanced vision, and expertise in hand-to-hand combat, he should do alright in a fight. We’ll see for ourselves when “Captain America: New World Order” opens in cinemas on May 3rd 2024.
