Almost twenty years after tackling sci-fi with the trippy “The Fifth Element,” filmmaker Luc Besson is returning to the genre with plans to write and direct an adaptation of the iconic French sci-fi graphic novel series “Valerian” for EuropaCorp.
Dane DeHaan (“The Amazing Spider Man 2”) and Cara Delevingne (“Paper Towns”) will star in the film, entitled “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” which will begin shooting this December ahead of a release in Summer 2017.
Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres penned the original 1967 comic, a blending of space opera and time travel elements, which follows two spatio-temporal agents who help defend a utopian 28th century Earth and its neighboring planets from villains.
