Walt Disney Studios has premiered a new triptych poster for its upcoming live-action “Beauty and the Beast” remake, the artwork revealing human forms of the enchanted employees from Beast’s castle which includes actors Ewan McGregor, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Audra McDonald and Emma Thompson.
Emma Watson recently revealed to Total Film why she turned down Disney’s live-action “Cinderella” but opted to take on the role of Belle in “Beauty and the Beast” instead – saying it’s a case of what type of character she wants to portray:
“I didn’t know they were going to make Beauty and the Beast at the time I turned down Cinderella. But when they offered me Belle, I just felt the character resonated with me so much more than Cinderella did.
She remains curious, compassionate and open-minded. And that’s the kind of woman I would want to embody as a role model, given the choice. In a strange way, [Belle] challenges the status quo of the place she lives in, and I found that really inspiring.
And also, she manages to keep her integrity and have a completely independent point of view. She’s not easily swayed by other people’s perspective; not swayed by fearmongering or scapegoating.”
Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad and Kevin Kline co-star in the Bill Condon directed film which hits cinemas March 17th.
