The first trailer for Amazon’s mega-budget TV series “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will debut this coming Super Bowl Sunday.
The clip will follow on from the title unveiling followed by the more recent set of nearly two dozen character posters. It also marks the highly rare streaming series to begin a promo cycle over six months ahead of its online debut.
Amazon has reportedly spent roughly $465 million on the first season alone – on top of the $250 million the company spent to secure the rights to the series from author J.R.R. Tolkien’s estate.
Executive producers J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay lead the series as showrunners with the show set to debut in September.
