“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” writer/producer Phil Lord has addressed the reports of harsh working conditions on the animated sequel… sort of.
A feature story in Vulture back in June went into the behind-the-scenes issues on the acclaimed animated feature including a “relentless kind of revisionism” as major narrative and visual overhauls were made.
Out promoting the second season of the Apple TV+ series “The Afterparty,” Lord spoke with Variety, who asked him to comment on the criticisms to which he responded.
“That was a really hard movie to make. We’re really proud of how hard everybody worked, and it was very demanding. But we’re just really proud of the crew, and everything they put into it”.
Speaking of another New York-based Marvel Comics hero, frequent Netflix director Marc Jobst tells THR he has faith that the upcoming Marvel Studios “Daredevil: Born Again” will be good.
Why? Because the original Netflix series actors involved all signed on for it. He tells the outlet:
“I can’t imagine that Charlie [Cox], Vince [D’Onofrio] and Jon [Bernthal] would sign up for something that they felt was anodyne. They just wouldn’t do it.”
Jobst is a veteran TV director who has worked on multiple series from “Black Sails” and “Hannibal,” to multiple Netflix series like “Daredevil,” “Luke Cage,” “The Punisher,” “The Witcher” and most recently “One Piece”.
“Daredevil: Born Again” sees the three actors return to their roles in a series that now takes place within MCU continuity. It was in production before being halted due to the ongoing strikes.
