Lopez Is Col. Sanders In Steamy Mini-Movie

Over much of the past five years, KFC has had various actors playing the company’s late figurehead and brand ambassador Colonel Harland Sanders in a series of commercials.

In fact the likes of Ray Liotta, Rob Lowe, Jason Alexander, Rob Riggle, Billy Zane, George Hamilton, Jim Gaffigan, Peter Weller, Sean Astin and singer Reba McEntire have all had a shot strapping on the white hair and black collar in 30-60 second spots.

Now Mario Lopez is taking on the role, but this time the company is going a lot further with “A Recipe for Seduction,” effectively a 15-minute commercial for the brand done in the format of a steamy Lifetime ‘mini-movie’ event airing on Sunday December 13th at noon.

The short potboiler follows the fried-chicken spokesman and hinges around the ‘secret recipe’ along with themes of dysfunctional family dynamics and forbidden love.

The project marks another attempt to engage viewers increasingly voicing their disdain for traditional commercials. KFC in the past has engaged in some well regarded stunts, such as being a charter sponsor of ESPN’s successful ‘The Ocho’ celebration of seldom seen sports inspired by a gag in the film “Dodgeball”.

“A Recipe for Seduction” will continue to be available throughout the holiday season on all Lifetime apps and video-on-demand platforms.
