The Lonely Island comedy troupe (“Popstar: Never Stop Stopping”) have dropped a half-hour special on streaming giant Netflix, one that serves as a musical tribute to baseball greats Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire.
Titled “The Lonely Island Presents: The Unauthorized Bash Brothers Experience”, and dubbed a ‘visual poem’ which seems akin to a parody of Beyonce’s “Lemonade,” the special sees Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer as the former Oakland Athletics teammates who became known as ‘The Bash Brothers’.
Guest stars include Maya Rudolph, Hannah Simone, Stephanie Beatriz, Jenny Slate, Jim O’Heir and even Sterling K. Brown who is playing singer Sia. Schaffer and Mike Diva helmed the special which is timed to mark the 30th anniversary of the Oakland A’s 1989 championship season.
The special consists or around ten songs, with two of them having gone online and viewable below. The special is now on Netflix worldwide.
