One of the reasons Tom Hiddleston’s Loki has been one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most interesting characters is that he’s had a good deal of depth.
Introduced as a villain in The MCU, the character flirted at times with being more heroic before ultimately going back to more nefarious and selfish ways.
He finally scored redemption in “Thor: Ragnarok,” only to be killed off in “Avengers: Infinity War,” but then was returned in “Avengers: Endgame” – albeit an earlier version more like the old Loki.
As a result, showrunner Michael Waldron tells Forever Dogs Podcast (via CBM) this week that the character will face an identity crisis:
“I think it’s the struggle with identity, who you are, who you want to be. I’m really drawn to characters who are fighting for control. Certainly you see that with Loki over the first 10 years of movies, he’s out of control at pivotal parts of his life, he was adopted and everything and that manifest itself through anger and spite towards his family.”
Story details for the series are still under wraps, but we know Richard E. Grant, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino and Kate Herron directs the run which had to halt production due to the coronavirus pandemic.
