“Loki” Directors Talk Those Kang Variants

Marvel

The “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” release earlier this year featured two post-credits scenes. The first involved the Council of Kangs, led by Immortus, who commiserate the death of the ‘exiled one’ and plan the first stages of a multiversal war.

The second was a scene from the “Loki” episode that aired this past week in which Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Owen Wilson’s Mobius encounter another Kang variant named Victor Timely at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.

Kasra Farahani, who directed that episode, has now cautioned fans against connecting events of this season with that Council of Kangs scene. Breaking down the episode for Screen Rant, Farahani was asked directly about the scenes.

She revealed the decision to use a scene from episode 3 as a post-credits scene for the “Ant-Man” film wasn’t made until quite late:

“What I can tell you is that we shot this before there was any decision to use it as a post-credit scene. That decision came later.”

Thus don’t expect any “Ant-Man” cameos here. Fellow director Dan DeLeeuw, who helmed the second episode this season, also spoke with the outlet and teased that we’ve yet to see the ‘definitive’ Kang the Conqueror on screen as yet:

“Oh, interesting. I love all the Kangs, I think Kang’s a great character. I don’t know that we’ve seen the definitive Kang yet, in terms of what I would envision the definitive Kang [to be]. I think there’s still someone yet to come out of the shadows.”

Whilst Jonathan Majors’ performance as He Who Remains was well-received, his take on Victor Timely has been met with often blunt criticism not just for his offscreen personal issues but the distracting delivery of his lines and performance choices that have drawn comparisons to Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor.

“Loki” still has three more episodes to air with the fourth episode screening this coming week.
