It’s official – the two actors who are playing Link and Zelda in the live-action “The Legend of Zelda” movie at Nintendo and Sony Pictures have been announced.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Nintendo boss Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will play Link while Bo Bragason will play Zelda, going so far as to post photos of the pair in what appears to be their costumes.
Miyamato wrote in his announcement that he is “very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen” and confirmed the film is set to be released in theaters on May 7th 2027.
16-year-old Ainsworth played the young Miles Wingrave in Mike Flanagan’s “The Haunting of Bly Manor” mini-series and voiced Pinocchio in Robert Zemeckis’ “Pinocchio” live-action adaptation at Disney. He appeared earlier this year alongside Bryan Cranston in comedy-drama “Everything’s Going to Be Great”.
21-year-old Bragason is known for her work on British TV mini-series like “Three Girls,” “The Jetty” and the upcoming “King and Conqueror”. She also starred in comedy-horror film “The Radleys” and did the motion capture for Young Luna in the game “Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV”.
Wes Ball is directing the feature while Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad produce.
