Jordan Dunn and Michael Kvamme have been hired to pen the script for a feature spin-off of this year’s live-action “Aladdin,” this one focusing on Billy Magnussen’s scene-stealing Prince Anders character.
Magnussen would reprise the part in the project which is in early development for the Disney+ streaming service and is not a sequel, that project is also in the planning stages at the studio.
In the film, Anders was a suitor for Jasmine from the kingdom of Skanland. An overdressed goofy idiot, the character was an original creation for the remake and people seemed to really like him. So, Magnussen came to the producers with an idea for a story and met with potential writers.
The film would be the first spinoff from one of Disney’s live-action remakes. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich will produce.
