Disney’s live-action “The Little Mermaid” remake will reportedly sport four new songs, all crafted by original 1989 animated feature composer and multiple Oscar winner Alan Menken who remains one of the most popular composers working in Hollywood.
Rosie O’Donnell held a one-time revival of her talk show the other day with virtual guests to raise money for The Actor’s Fund during the coronavirus crisis. Menken dropped in and revealed that though production has stopped on the film, they have recorded all the songs along with writing four new songs with Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Menken also confirms he and Miranda are currently working on the songs for the “Enchanted” sequel “Disenchanted,” a stage adaptation of Disney’s “Hercules”. Miranda also appeared on the broadcast where he revealed that his “In the Heights” film still has a bunch of work left to do and so its delay earlier today was inevitable.
