Lionsgate has secured the domestic distribution rights to Guy Ritchie’s new film which is currently untitled and is wrapping principal photography in Spain this week.
Ritchie re-teams with his “The Covenant” star Jake Gyllenhaal and his “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” actors Henry Cavill and Eiza Gonzalez in the film which is rumored to be “Expendables”-esque.
Plot specifics are under wraps. Carlos Bardem and Fisher Stevens co-star in the film which has a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement. Ritchie and Ivan Atkinson will produce.
The deal follows on from Lionsgate habing previously picked up domestic rights to Ritchie’s “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” – a WW2 period film that also stars Damian Lewis, Henry Golding, Alan Ritchson, Alex Pettyfer and Cary Elwes.
Gyllenhaal will next be seen in the Apple TV+ mini-series “Presumed Innocent,” and Doug Liman’s reimagining of “Road House”. Cavill will be seen in “Argylle” in February whilst Gonzalez will appear in Netflix sci-fi series “Three Body Problem”.
